Recurring Gifts vs. Pledges for monthly givers during campaigns

We are currently gearing up for a new capital campaign.  I'm wondering how everyone else handles their new monthly givers during campaign times.  Do you set them up as recurring gifts or do you set them up as pledges so that you can see (let's say) a years worth of monthly giving in your campaign reports.

Anyone who has a set amount they intend to donate we set up as a pledge.  If they say take $X a month indefinitely, we set it up as a recurring gift.



Both gifts can be processed in same batch.  Primary difference is the amounts that will appear on some reports as you mentioned.
