Lead, Diagnostic Market

Options

Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. Based on the premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of commodity markets and more effective local management. By working in association with governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large scale impact and, to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for treatment options in more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAI's teams are working side-by-side with over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest barriers to effective treatment and care.

The TB Diagnostics team focuses on addressing both the supply-side and demand-side barriers to ensure access to accurate and affordable Tuberculosis, HIV, HCV diagnostics to patients in both the private and public sector. Current diagnostic procedures in the private sector are focused on the usage of sub optimal tests that are inaccurate, costly, and slow in diagnosing resistance to first line antibiotics. Further, the diagnostic market in India is very fragmented, there are about 60,000 – 100,000 small & big labs across India. The country team is tasked with creating a market shift towards increased usage of the validated diagnostics that are accurate, affordable, and (geographically) accessible.

The TB Diagnostics team works closely with diagnostic and drug manufacturers, private sector labs, multilateral organizations, normative bodies, physician organizations and other stakeholders to lower prices of WHO endorsed diagnostics, encourage adoption of quality diagnostics, and accelerate the entry and uptake of new improved products.
