Business Card Scanner

Options
Our Development Officers have expressed interest in purchasing a scanner to quickly scan business cards from prospects met at conferences. I'm thinking we would need to use a product that imports the cards into a spreadsheet then import the spreadsheet.

If so, how did you integrate it with RE? Does anyone have experience using a scanner for this?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

  • We don't have a scanner for business cards, but have discussed this concept recently. I agree that scanning then importing via an excel document would probably be the best. If you feel like you're going to have a large quantity, I'd recommend investing in something like ImportOmatic to make the process smooth.
  • We recently purchased a scanner for our C-suite to use. Once they or their assistance have scanned their contacts, they appear in a spreadsheet. Blackbaud allows you to import contacts from a spreadsheet. You go to Admin, then click on Import, and then scroll down to constituent. I will be happy to walk you through the process step by step if need be :)
  • If they're comfortable enough to use their smartphones there are also phone apps that scan business cards and add them to your email contact list. Several people here use CamCard for this purpose and the contacts are exported from their addresss book (outlook or gmail) in a csv format.

Do you know the brand/model of the scanner?
