Donor Profiling Products

Options
Hello!

Does anyone have any experience using ResearchPoint or WealthPoint or WealthEngine or some other donor profiling/wealth search tool?

I'm starting to do some research on what would be the best tool for us to use - currently we have a ResearchPoint subscription but I know they organization has used WealthPoint in the past

I've only been here a few months and have no opinion of either product yet so would love some advice/opinions

Thanks for any help!

Joanne

Here's link to forum thread essentially asking same question: https://community.blackbaud.com/forums/viewtopic/147/20473?post_id=66634#p66634   with responses when I asked in Sept.

  • If you have ResearchPoint, then be sure to add Target Analytics to your Product list here in the Community.  Then go to that area and check out the Events.  There is a (free) Intro to RP class offered regularly.  If you have a BB Learn subscription (lucky you!) you can take additional classes, and there is now (just recently announced) a Certification for RP.  I'm starting to get up-to-speed since our VP of Development left and no one is currently skilled enough to really use it.  Hence, I'm on here at 9:15pm and about to go do a couple of Imports to RE and then fold and stuff the rest of a mailing before I go to bed.  Not enough hours in the day.  =)
  • Thank you both!! : )
  • Hello Joanne,

I did a weeks free trial of Wealth Engine, and found it to be a brilliant prospect research tool if you have the valid postcodes of the people you are looking into. Otherwise it can be quite difficult to get the correct information!

  • We use iWavePRO for our Prospect Research, but had looked into ResearchPoint recently, as well. The two seem comparable to me. On a case-by-case basis, I found ResearchPoint profiles often had a bit more donation info than iWave's profiles, but then iWave would have info that ResearchPoint didn't, so it pretty much balanced out; which direction you'd tip would be a matter of organizational priorities, I imagine.

I will say that I was intrigued about Target Analytics, which will analyze your RE: database and apply all sorts of algorithms to help identify which of your Constituents are likely ripe for solicitation. In theory, it sounded like it could really boost our ROI--but it was also a bit costly and we weren't too sure we would see enough of an increase in donations to make it worthwhile.
