Autoresponder not filling in Write-In Designation

Options
Hello - I am new to the Luminate Community and have an ongoing issue that I am trying to resolve. We are using an the Site Default AutoResponder, but would like our Write-In Designation to show up in the receipt portion of the response. Currently, it is not working as expected. Does anyone have a solution to this issue. We've been told by Blackbaud that this might be a noted bug, but I haven't been able to locate documentation of such.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tammi

  • Hi Tammi,

This issue was reported in Bug E-68017 and currently sits in the product team queue.  Your best bet would be to add both a custom text string field (support can add this for you) and a custom data element to your donation form that you can map to this custom string field.  Then the custom data element will need to be added below the Designated Giving Donation Level in your donation form.  This will allow you use the S120 tag to pull in the information captured by this custom data element (basically, an open text field box) into the appropriate autoresponder.  It will also be available for reporting. However, in order for this to work, you may need to create a designee called "Other" or "I'd like to fill in an organization not listed" (however you wish for it to appear on the form) as well as a fixed designation type of "Write-in" .

    There are some limitations:
    • 255 character limit
    • If a donor makes more than one transaction on the same donation form, the info they submit will overwrite the previous info that was recorded (although both the respective autoresponder and interaction record will not be affected)
Here are some helpful articles to get you started:

How can I create a custom field on donation forms that can later be reported on?

How can I use a custom data element in an Autoresponder email?

I hope this helps! If this solution does not work for you, I highly recommend you add a comment to our ideas portal.
