Tribute given in honor of spouse only

I get a tribute gift in honor of Jane Doe, but the constituent record is for Steven and Jane Doe (Jane being under the Spouse button), can I enter a gift only in honor of her, or do I need to give Jane her own constituent record?

You can use the joint record you have. On the Honors/Memorials tab, when you add the tribute, you can put the description as "In honor of Jane Doe". You can have multiple tributes entered on each record - so one for Jane Doe, one for Steven Doe, and one for Steven and Jane Doe - if you wanted.. When you enter the gift, and have to choose the tribute record, just be sure to select the tribute you want using the drop-down arrow next to the tribute description.

If Steven didn’t have any other information warranting he needed to be the Main Constituent, we would flip Jane to the Main Constituent moving Steven to the Spouse.  If Steven needed to be Main, for example he had he Tribute gifts in his honor, we would promote Jane to a full constituent.
