Export credit number, project number of each fund from a split gift

Options
We put in a split stock gift, 3 different funds. For reporting, we need to export each fund's GL distribution, but can only get the first fund's credit number and project number to export, and it exports for all 3 funds details. Any ideas? My ultimate report is a Crystal Report based on a gift export.

  • What fields are you outputting in the export? Do you have the export field set up to export more than 1 result?

  • I exported 4 funds, and 4 credit/project numbers per gift. If I only exported 1 credit/project number, the gift showed up with the right fund, but only the top fund's numbers. If I export 4 credit/project numbers, it shows as (in this case there's 3 in the split gift) 3 separate gifts per fund, tripling the amount of the entire gift. It's hard to put into words, so I did a few screen grabs.

  • Hmm. Let me experiment and get back to you. I'm not experienced at all with Crystal Reports, but if we can get the export right, that should fix the report (hopefully).

    I appreciate your effort. I love/hate a puzzle!

  • It's really interesting to me that in a gift export, Distribution isn't a subsection of fund.

I just did some experimenting and came up with the same issue you did -- it pulls all of the distributions for each split. So, this post isn't helpful except to confirm that you're not imagining things...

One tip: if you're exporting to the blackbaud database for crystal, you don't have to specify how many of the distributions or splits or anything you want. If you leave the field blank, it'll just export all of them. That way you won't have to worry about missing any.
  • thanks for confirming I wasn't missing anything - I appreciate your time in exploring. I'll have to play with the report some more, and thanks for your tip! I'll have to give it a try.--Jane
