Senior Prospect Research Analyst

Monmouth University of West Long Branch, NJ is seeking applications for a Senior Prospect Research Analyst in the Advancement Services department.

The candidate would be expected to: use any and all appropriate means to perform thorough and complete prospect research on a select group of VIP prospects and constituents for senior development executives; research should include, but not be limited to, the following informational sources: online databases, wealth rating services, public records, library and government sources, news articles, archived digital documents, collected action details, contact reports and constituent notes;

Collaborate with Leadership Directors and senior staff members to create, maintain and update well-rounded in-depth biographical profiles on a select group of VIP constituents; constituency groups include, but are not limited to, Trustees, potential trustees, former board members and members of various high profile committees and advisory councils.



Requirements

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately, Intermediate knowledge of MS Word 2010, Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel 2010, On-line Records System, Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment.

Five years of prospect research experience in a non-profit organization, preferably in higher education. Five years of experience with foundation research and proposal development support.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely results. Ability to analyze and present information for multiple purposes. Global understanding of the fundraising process.

Ability to work successfully in a fast paced and high-volume environment. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and as a team player. Attention to accuracy and detail.

Duties

Use any and all appropriate means to perform thorough and complete prospect research on a select group of VIP prospects and constituents for senior development executives. Research should include, but not be limited to, the following informational sources: online databases, wealth rating services, public records, library and government sources, news articles, archived digital documents, collected action details, contact reports and constituent notes.



Collaborate with Leadership Directors and senior staff members to create, maintain and update well-rounded in-depth biographical profiles on a select group of VIP constituents. Constituency groups include, but are not limited to, Trustees, potential trustees, former board members and members of various high profile committees and advisory councils.



Serve as the knowledge specialist on VIP constituents who may be capable of major philanthropic gifts ($100k+) or more, keeping abreast of relevant business activities, economic trends, biographical changes and other world events affecting these individuals.



Proactively mine internal and external data sources to identify potential new major gift prospects and council members based on geography, relationships, wealth and affinity to the University and its programs.



Maintain and update data for various councils, special groups and prospects in Raiser’s Edge. Have the ability to run queries, create reports and perform data entry tasks as needed.



Work with senior staff, Deans, and executive committee members to ascertain funding needs and priorities and then use collected knowledge and research to build and communicate strategic plans and partnerships with foundations, corporations and select executives.



Remain up-to-date with the most current methods, best practices, trends and tools used in the prospect research and advancement services fields through webinars, speaking with peers, industry media sources and training sessions.



Maintain a working knowledge of University key initiatives, planned campus events and fundraising priorities.



Attend meetings, conferences, fundraising events and other activities as deemed appropriate by leadership of External Affairs.



Maintain a working knowledge of common prospect research tools and services including, but not limited to, LexisNexis, ResearchPoint, the Foundation Directory, Prospect Research Online and various online search engines.
