DESCRIPTION

The American Diabetes Association, the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy has an exciting new opportunity for an IT professional. The Lead Web Developer Internet Solutions - Business Systems Integration & Internet Solutions will be primarily responsible to plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the technical design, development, and implementation of the Association's Fundraising and Registration internet applications (powered by Blackbaud’s Luminate Online solution) and services based in accordance with business and technical requirements of association stakeholders. The position is also responsible for support of the online tools as well as maintaining and supporting existing internet applications, as applicable. This individual will apply proven project management skills, web development skills, staff management experience, communication skills, problem-solving skills and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her development team.



Specific responsibilities include:

* Plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the technical design, development, and implementation of the Association's Fundraising and Registration internet applications (powered by Blackbaud’s Luminate Online solution). * Ability to troubleshoot and resolve website rendering and other functional issues.

* Manage, Mentor and provide direction for a team of in-house engineers (2) and in-house Support Representative as well as manage vendor relationships.

* Ensure that development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.

* Pre-testing phase of development by evaluating proposals in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations.

* Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.

* Liaise with internal and external network administrators and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing.

* Provide technical leadership to vendor project managers and programmers working on development project teams.

* Review and analyze existing applications’ effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.

* Research and make recommendations on products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.

* Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

* Proven experience working with on-line collaboration systems - Constituent Resource Management (CRM), Data Driven web applications and sites.

* Knowledge and experience working with the following web standards: HTML, HTML5, CSS/CSS3, JQuery, Drupal, API, Responsive Design, and Social Networking share

* Proven project management skills and have a strong ability to manage multiple organization-wide initiatives.

* Bachelor's Degree required, further specialized work preferred

* 8-10 years direct experience in web development and design along with Project and Staff Management required.

* Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

* Excellent project management skills and substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project life cycle models, etc.

* Knowledge of database design, web application and file management techniques

* Knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL

* Strong customer-service orientation.

* Excellent listening, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.

* Ability to conduct research into application development issues and products.

* Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

* Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
