Assistant Vice President, Alumni Relations & Advancement Programming

Saint Anselm College is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and experienced Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations and Advancement Programming. The Assistant VP plans and implements a comprehensive program of activities and events that establishes and maintains relationships with the approximately 20,000 alumni of Saint Anselm College. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of College Advancement, the Assistant Vice President is a senior member of the College Advancement team. In this role, the Assistant Vice President provides strategic oversight, planning, and management of college advancement programming and alumni relations programs, functions, and communications, including project and volunteer management.

Founded in 1889, Saint Anselm College is a Benedictine, Catholic, liberal arts college dedicated to undergraduate education. Located on 400 acres overlooking Manchester, NH, Saint Anselm seeks to provide an educational experience that promotes the intellectual, spiritual and personal growth of its students. The College's Benedictine heritage is reflected in long-standing traditions of hospitality, a love of learning, community service, and citizenship. The community includes approximately 2,000 students, 145 full-time faculty members and 370 full-time staff in addition to the monks of Saint Anselm Abbey.

 

The Assistant VP will create, foster and maximize meaningful opportunities for alumni engagement, and seek opportunities for alumni to connect with other alumni, current and prospective students, faculty and young alumni. This individual will oversee a volunteer management program that includes regional networks, an Alumni Council, and specific volunteer programs. The Assistant VP oversees over 40 alumni relations and college advancement events and programs, including Reunion, Homecoming and the President’s Society Dinner, and manages high-profile events in support of the college’s fundraising goals.

 

The Assistant VP works with colleagues in and outside of College Advancement. This individual will collaborate with communications colleagues to develop appropriate print and online communications with alumni community. He or she will also work collaboratively with the Director of Annual Giving to develop strategies and communications to increase alumni participation. The Assistant VP will partner with other departments and offices, including the Office of Career Services and the Office of Student Services, as well as well as academic departments, to help bridge and enhance alumni relationships and assessment outcomes. The Assistant VP supervises a team of three – an Associate Director, an Assistant Director, and an Administrative Assistant.

 

Required Skills

This position requires demonstrably strong planning and organizational skills and project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to effectively manage multiple and competing deadlines. This individual must be available to work nights and weekends, as well as occasional travel within and beyond New England to attend events and meet with alumni. The successful candidate must show an enthusiasm for the mission of Catholic liberal arts education and actively support the mission and vision of Saint Anselm College; alumni candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree (master’s degree preferred) plus five to seven years of progressively responsible development and/or alumni relations work, preferably within higher education.
