Globally Changing Constituent Notepad Types

Options
Hi Everyone,

I recently added a constituent note to over 400,000 records in our system to mark these records had been researched by a data append service.  I used an existing notepad type that is currently used for all things related to research on a constituent.  I have been asked to change all the data append notes to a different notepad type, so that the note is more distinct.  This presents a problem because some of the constituents have multiple instances of the existing notepad type on their record and a global change would replace the notepad type on all of the notes when I just need a subset of the notes to be changed.  Any creative ideas on how I can globally change this subset of 400,000+ notepad types?

Thanks!

  • Hi Matthew,

Assuming you added all the notes on the same day, can you create a query to obtain the import IDs for notes of that type created by you on that date, then create a Constituent Notepad import and use those IDs to update just the notes you're interested in? Import does give a bit more control than Global Add over exactly which records get changed.
  • Hi Alan,

Thanks so much for your help! That worked perfectly. I was able to change all 400,000 notepads.

    Thanks again!
