JOB TITLE:            Database Manager

DEPARTMENT:  Development

REPORTS TO:      Director of Individual Giving



JOB SUMMARY

The Database Manager is primarily responsible for the oversight and administration of the Altru database system, which supports the fundraising, sales and ticketing operations at the N-YHS. Responsibilities include gift processing, database maintenance, systems administration, report production and analysis, data entry and reconciliation of records with Finance Department.  This position provides expertise and effort to back office processes.



EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required.



EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of two years related experience in development, information management or in a non-profit setting required.   Extensive experience with Altru database preferred.  The successful candidate will be a creative problem solver with a “can do” attitude.    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.  Kindness mandatory; sense of humor a plus. 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for providing database support to the Development Department in all areas of the fundraising process
  • Responsible for responding to data requests from all institutional departments
  • Responsible for gift entry process; ensuring that processing, tracking, reporting and acknowledgement of gifts are performed accurately and promptly
  • Develops the specifications for standard reports and assists staff in running reports
  • Generates queries for special reports
  • Manages process of data cleanup to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Reconciles database records with Finance Department
  • Responsible for the creation of user accounts and managing security levels for database access
  • Provides database training for staff to ensure proper usage
  • Additional responsibilities as requested
 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.  This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop as necessary.
