Position Details

An integral member of the development team, the Prospect Research Associate will collaborate with relevant staff to develop and implement a strategy for identifying and researching current and potential donors to the UNT Health Science Center Foundation. He or she proactively identifies, qualifies, and researches major gift prospects to support the development team in meeting contributed revenue goals, and analyzes biographical, financial, or other data obtained from a variety of internal and external sources to determine capacity and inclination. The position reports to the Senior Director of Development 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

* Initially, focuses on constituent database cleanup and development.

* Evaluates prospects based on estimated wealth, giving capacities, affinity, and other factors. 

* Uses advanced research skills to collect, evaluate, analyze, qualify, organize, package, and disseminate information in a way that maximizes its usefulness and enables accurate and educated decision-making in the development of fundraising strategies. 

* Composes, writes, edits, and proofreads briefing materials including, but not limited to, donor research profiles and other basic research reports. Ensures accuracy and completeness of reports and other documents. 

* Prioritizes and implements schedule of screenings to ensure that identified prospects are properly identified and moved into the prospect management pipeline. 

* Collaborates with Development staff to clarify research questions and ensure accurate interpretation and application of biographical information and assigned ratings such as wealth, capacity, propensity, interest and readiness. 

* Uses the development database (Raisers Edge) to track/store profile data. 

* Develops and runs queries in fundraising database. Assists in maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor information in both paper and electronic prospect files. 

* Monitors market trends and media sources for relevant information on principal gift donors and prospects. 

* Researches, manages and implements best practices for research products, protocols, vendor resources and database use related to research.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.



Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: 



* Minimum 3 years' experience in research, data analytics and data mining in a non-profit, university or other philanthropic institution that relies on private funding for support. 

* High proficiency and advanced skills with online search methods, as well as online and offline prospect research tools including ResearchPoint (or similar wealth screening software), Lexis Nexis, Guidestar, NOZA Search, Foundation Search, Foundation Directory, and others. 

* Knowledge of solicitation strategy and major gifts process and the ability to work with Development Officers to help build prospect strategy. 

* Advanced skills with Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software. 

* Dependable attendance and punctuality. 

* Excellent interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication, follow-up, and time/project management skills and initiative. 

* Interact and work with a diverse group of internal/external people. 

* Provide excellent customer service to internal and/or external customers.
