Reporting from RE

Options
Hi all,

we're looking at developing a set of management and operational reports, including dashboards etc. Does anyone out there use anything other than Crystal Reports (a product I've found in the past to be very clunky and awkward) for things like this? We've looked at software like Tableau and SiSense but just thought I'd bring it up here to see if anyone else does something similar. We're locally hosted so have direct access to the database.

Thanks,

John.

This might be something that you're not interested in at all, but I think that the reports and dashboards in NXT are going to be pretty great. I believe that they'll be releasing that piece of NXT later this year. I saw a demo of some of it last week and I like what I see.
  • John - We work with the vendor Beyond Nines and recently received this information from them related to Tableau - might be of interest to you (snipped from an update email...)

....   is Tableau. It's a data visualization tool that allows you to "see" information more intuitively. We have been working on connecting Tableau with Raiser's Edge. And wouldn't you know it, but we've cracked the code. This fall we will have some every exciting news to share! I can't go into details right now for reasons that will be clear later. For now, start thinking about how your organization looks at data, both tactical and strategic. Your Raiser's Edge database is a mine rich with actionable information. We're going to help you tap into that wealth and polish those hidden data gems with Tableau.

  • This may be more than you need, but it is a very powerful tool:  http://www.jcabigroup.com/jca-answers-for-the-raisers-edge.html

  • We use Advizor Solutions instead of Tableau.
  • Hi all,

thanks a million for the responses. A couple of interesting bits there and some research for me to do. I'll be keeping an eye on Beyond Nines as well as our IT department may dictate what software we use and Tableau has been mooted, although it hasn't been decided on.

    John.
  • We are using SSRS for our Reporting tool and have just implemented QlikSense for our visualization and dashboarding. I had used Tableau for several years when I was at Princeton University. It was a great tool as well. You cannot go wrong with either Tableau or QlikSense.

We pull all the data nightly from RE into our own ODS and DW.

    Cheers,

    David

  • Leave those with me Jeff. I'm off on leave now for 2 weeks (horray!) and have been busy with handover the last couple of days. But I'll be sure to take a look at those in more detail when I'm back.

    Thanks,

    John.

We are hosted on RE and NXT and are struggling with being able to get the level of specificity we need in reports and have them easily generated on the fly. Can SSRS be used in a hosted environment?

    TIA,

    Kathy
