Database Manager


The Database Manager serves as the primary information manager as it pertains to the Office of Development and Public Affairs and Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge database, manages gifts and acknowledgement process, documents policies and procedures, responds to data requests, and performs a variety of other tasks related the implementation of the Development Resources operating plan and in support of the school’s fundraising initiatives. Works closely with colleagues in Development, IT and Finance. 


 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees gift processing and receipting, financial reconciling and fundraising reporting; supports the Associate Director of Development Operations and works in collaboration with the Manager of Development Systems and Operations
  • Responds to data requests submitted by Development staff by conducting information interviews, managing workflow, and pulling data in accordance with request specifics. Familiarity with Import, Export, Report, Dashboard and other database tools that facilitate the fulfillment of staff requests
  • Oversee the import and export of data from Raiser’s Edge and the secure transmittal across multiple platforms
  • Manages large-scale Raiser’s Edge database clean-up projects, related to duplicate, inactive, and incomplete records
  • Maintains tables and coding in Raiser’s Edge for better data management and reporting
  • Runs quarterly national change of address (NCOA) updates, schedules and performs data enrichment and handles other global adds and changes in database
  • Implements new quality control procedures on Raiser’s Edge and documents gift processing and record maintenance policies and procedures
  • Trains staff in the Office of Development on Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge
  • Maintains relationship with the Finance Office and IT
 


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have prior experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of systems experience in fundraising
  • Must have proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Expertise in queries, global changes, imports, exports and reports and a strong knowledge of operational policies and procedures
  • Background in gift processing, financial analysis, reporting, and staff training
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Maturity of judgment, high level of accuracy, and close attention to detail, when managing various data driven projects
  • Strong ethical sense to handle donor information appropriately
  • Motivated and deadline oriented with a proven track record at delivering results
  • Helpful to have worked with Import-O-Matic, Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access
