The Philanthropy Officer for Major Gifts will be responsible for leading the strategic development and management of the Major Gifts Program for one or more CNE operating units. Working both independently and collaboratively as part of the Philanthropy Team, the incumbent will be responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects; recommending and implementing cultivation and solicitation strategies of individual prospects; meeting with prospective donors and volunteers; and ensuring the appropriate stewardship of gifts. He/she may also work with representatives of family foundations making contributions to the operating unit(s). Additionally, the incumbent may work with individuals interested in making planned gifts. The Major Gift officer will also work collaboratively with colleagues on lead corporate and individual sponsorships for fundraising events and will help to insure the success by assisting as needed with various aspects of event. The Philanthropy Officer for Major Gifts has primary responsibility for staffing the Development Foundation(s) of the operating unit(s) he/she represents. As an advocate for the mission and programs of various operating units, the incumbent will shape key institutional and philanthropic-related messages through the direction and preparation of major gift proposals, solicitation letters, and other materials for donors and prospective donors.

 




Required Education


Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred with 7-10 years of major gift fundraising experience (or comparable experience in sales or other similar fields), comprehensive understanding of major gift and planned giving fundraising practices with demonstrated success in strategic donor relationships and proven successful fundraising skills. Must have solid volunteer management experience and the ability to engage and successfully utilize volunteers in achieving fundraising goals. Demonstrated ability to effectively represent an organization to internal and external audiences and to cultivate and maintain highly effective relationships with constituents. Ability to travel, perform occasional evening and weekend work, and adjust to the other needs of the department. Successful candidate must have excellent communications skills, oral and written. He/She must be highly skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Prior experience using Raiser’s Edge database preferred.
