e-newsletter - problems with formatting

Options
I am having problems creating an e-newsletter using the Net Community template.

Every time I insert a photo or piece of text, the newsletter changes in some way (font size, style, spacing, photos) and then I have to spend more time trying to reformat it.

I have spent hours trying to get things right, but in the end gave up because I couldn't get the newsletter how I wanted.

Are others having the same problem?

  • Use our SmartBULLETIN system which allows you to create a bulletin in an easy to use way (images resized automatically, online archives available, formatting set in stone and not lost at random points. It then allows you to send it using NetCommunity and supports merge fields, privacy page links etc... Get in touch if you want to know more support@smartthing.co.uk.
  • Yes, formatting has been a nightmare and the only way we have found to resolve is to edit directly in the HTML, which is a challenge for those of us with no training in it. It really does not work as a WYSIWIG editor at all, in our experience.
  • It is the most cumbersome editor I have ever worked with. For example, today, I wanted to insert a table within a table. That didn't work, so thankfully, I knew HTML and could force it to happen. I ended up having to do the entire thing in HTML.
  • Not to bang on about it but the solution is SmartBULLETIN! Last time I'll annoy you about it I promise... contact us at support@smartthing.co.uk
  • Is SmartBULLETIN free and integrates with BBNC? We would like to stay with Blackbaud.
  • SmartBULLETIN is a separate site designed specifically to build emails that can be sent through NetCommunity in a reliable way. We were employed to do this for several clients and hence built a self-service tool for them to do it themselves fully realising the limitations of the built in editor.

The tool whilst not free is very cheap - from £50 per quarter, prices vary depending on usage. The quality improvements in sent emails, the email client reach (as we ensure template design is compatible with all major clients) and the time saved using the tool are the main benefits.

Plus you get all that NetCommunity sending benefits such as merge fields, stats going back to Raiser's Edge/BBCRM etc.

We also give a free demo to anyone interested so we show you how it works.

As I say - email support@smartthing.co.uk for more info if you are interested.
