User Networking Manager and contacting alumni via notification

I'm thinking of using the User Networking Manager part as an alumni search Directory, whereby alumni can search and send notifications to reconnect with other alumni without disclosing their email address. The User Networking Manager part accesses all alumni in RE. How does the notification get recorded in RE against the person doing the contacting and the one being contacted? Or is it not recorded?

It's not recorded. User Networking is essentially NetCommunity's "social network" feature. So I think for alumni reconnecting it would be better to ask on the profile form for people to provide their facebook, twitter, whatever, etc as a constituent attribute. Then display that on a directory part. That way they can contact other alumna under their preferred social networking site instead of learning a new social network. I hope that makes sense!
