Embedded Flickr slideshows no longer working?

Options
We have been using Flickr slideshows by embedding the code in an unformatted text box (per tutorial in BBNC). These are no longer showing up--just a blank space. Anyone know why or how/if this can be fixed?

  • This might not be a Flickr issue. Check the page. If it is loading as https, your http content is not showing up. If you can load the page as http, the content will show up.

If possible, try tinkering with the embedded code to see if you can simply add the s to the URLs in the code. The alternative solution is annoying, but if you put that code into a separate html page somewhere else and use the frame part to bring that slideshow content in, I think that will work even if the content is served over http and being called up via https.

I've been around and around on this issue with support. Technically it is a browser issue. Some browsers are more strict than others on this issue. The BBNC issue is that with an upgrade from 2012, we (hosted clients) can't choose to disable the option to force admin pages to load as https. Meaning, content that used to be there will suddenly disappear if you get that blue admin bar. This has been the source of many frantic emails from stakeholders to me about content not showing up on the website. It is there, but only for the non-logged in public. Often when you login, it won't load.
  • Hey Callen,

Jamie's answer sounds possible to me, so I agree you should test and see if that's it.

I wanted to add in why we changed the SSL setting. We were dinged on our PCI compliance, and had to change it for the software to remain compliant for hosted clients.

    Thanks!

  • Jaime,

Thank you so much--I added https to the code and it now shows up. Karen, perhaps the tutorial should be updated to mention this?
  • Not sure if anyone has mentioned the mobile issue with Flickr slideshows. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.
