donation forms and event registration forms on same page

What should I consider before putting a donation form part and an event registration form part on the same page?

My first thoughts is possible/probable constituent confusion. Can you please share the scenario that brought about the Donation/Event Forms on the same page as a possible solution? It'll give better perspective on the situation. Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend putting two form type parts on the same page. We've seen various error messages with this, so it's not a supported thing to do. In general forms should live on their own page.

I agree with both of you. I feel like it takes a streamlined page and makes it a mess. I see lots of room for donor confusion. And I was concerned about possible errors. But there is insistence that I do this in case donors want to make a donation in lieu of attendance.



It would be nice if I could chance the wording for "additional donation" and let them proceed without purchasing a ticket to somehow make this work.

I totally understand what you want to do! I recommend to edit the event registration form, and on the helplet that's for the first step, add a link to a page with a donation form. The donation page can be branded for that specific event. I answered this question once before, and we ended up doing that. As far as I know everyone was happy with that workflow once they set it up and saw it.

Yes, that is actually what I've suggested, but there seems to be some concern that donors will "give up if they have to click on another link".
