Email coding

Options
Is anyone willing to share how your organization manages emails for promotion, solicitation, event confirmations etc.. We are new to NetCommunity and will be using the e-communications tool for event confirmations for our two major events. I'm not sure how best to code/track the confirmation emails so that i can add in and remove these emails from other types of e-communications as deemed appropriate. Any information would be helpful.

  • Jeannine - Using Email Campaigns/Appeals in BBNC allows you to send e-communications to groups of constituents and then upload "exclusion lists" to automatically remove people from future distributions.

If you use Email Messages, you can utilize the dynamic query(ies) in RE-based lists to set criteria to exclude people who have registered for an event, donated to the appeal, etc.

Depending on how you wish to extract people and cross-analyze results from "like" emails, you can choose one of these routes for your e-communications plan.
  • Hello Jeannine,

What Julie provided is correct, but I wanted to add a quick note. Please only use campaigns if you are doing a/b testing with large lists. If you are not doing this, campaigns are an very inefficient way of sending emails through NetCommunity. If you are doing this though, campaigns are great.

    Thanks!

  • Thank you both for this information. I find with query when I narrow by more than two criteria the query gets made at me which is why i want to be thoughtful with our email coding since we are just starting. I didn't know the campaign/appeal provided an exclusion list. That is something to keep in mind as we move forward.
