New Website Requires Updated Templates with Javascript and CSS files - HELP!

Options
Our website was recently redesigned and our designer sent me files to update the donation page template. We are only using NetCommunity right now for our donation page and not for the rest of our website. So, we'd like to make our donation page look the same as the rest of our site.

They sent me CSS files, JavaScript and images. I've uploaded all the images to my image library but now I'm stuck. I'm not sure where to put in these CSS files or where to put the JavaScript.

Can someone point me in the right direction for finding documentation on this or any pointers on what I need to do?

  • If you're not well versed in those things, you're best bet is probably to find someone who really knows NetCommunity and CSS. The files your designer gave you will save lots of time, but you won't be able to simply upload them and make them work unless the designer coded specifically for BBNC. There are lots of CSS elements to design for even just on the donation form. The all have Blackbaud specific names like BBListingHeadingDonationFieldCaption that your designer probably did not code for.

Blackbaud used to have all of this laid out in the Web Design Guide. I just checked, and the version I have has all sorts of detail about how to style individual parts like the donation part. The current version online seems to be updated with the new interface and software features, but no longer has this level of detail.

If you want the old version of the Web Design Guide, I can email it to you.
  • Hey Angel,

Jamie is correct here. If you need the CSS for any part please use these steps to add the CSS default. The guide unfortunately was difficult to keep accurate as we updated parts and the classes and IDs associated with them in NetCommunity.

    1. Select Site Explorer, Style Sheets.

    2. Make a new stylesheet or edit an existing one.

    3. Click Insert CSS Selectors.

    4. Under Insert Selectors for select the part type you want to see.

    5. Click Insert.

In your stylesheet it'll put in all the selectors for the part you chose. If you don't want to save any changes, just copy that out into a text file for reference, and do not save the stylesheet.

    Thanks!

    Karen
