Event checkout questions and T-shirt sizes

Options
How do you ask questions on an event registration form? Ex. we have a car show and I need to ask what model, year, make, etc. of the cars and also the T-Shirt sizes. I know you can do that on a donation form but I haven't found any place on an event form. I just need to know the work around if there is one!

  • I'm not sure if you can have drop downs but you could use attributes to ask them to specify details?
  • I have been trying this but only three show up in the options and I can't get the rest to populate so I can see them! I am going to try again today. Thanks for the suggestion!!
  • Hello guys,

If you want the attribute to be a drop down please create it as data type table, and then mark allow only 1.

    Thanks!

  • I tried this and it didn't work...I put it on the event and that wasn't right so I put it on the participant because the values that are in there are what shows up. I have deleted and reattached the event because it seems it doesn't automatically update unless you do that. Suggestions? I marked them as allow only 1 and they are all active.
  • Well, it just showed up! I am going to try to test it but NC is down I think, I just got kicked off...
  • OK...got the options to show up...but how do I make it so information can be filled out? I can't make every car make, year or model in the drop down list, that would be crazy long and wouldn't get all I am sure. Do you have any suggestions on this or is this just how it is? Is there a work around?
  • Hey Lisa,

If you make the data type text and mark allow only 1 then the attribute will have the type of field you want.

    Thanks!

  • I changed those to text boxes but the change hasn't taken effect yet. Can you tell me if I need to keep deleting and reattaching the event for the changes to go through? Or what do I need to do so I can see those changes. For now it still gives me a tiny drop down box for those options. If I could get the work around on this that would be great. The documentation doesn't help with oddities...it is very vague. Thanks!
  • Hey Lisa,

Please remove the attribute from the form, and save it. tTen under Administration, Code tables, click Refresh Code tables. Then we can go back and put the attribute back on the form. That should force it to refresh.

    Thanks!

  • Can I just say, you are a genious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that worked!!! OMG!!! I am so excited!

Now if I can figure out all the other stuff! ha

    I appreciate your help!
  • I have a question on how to make the check out questions only show once. Here is the concern. If someone registers but then buys 3 additional shirts, it asks for the other information 3 additional times. Is there a way to eliminate that?
  • We were told that if you want to do events everything had to run through RE and we are trying to implement that. That being said, is there a way to let an organization register (I know classic event form doesn't allow this, correct?) and also have the attributes on the form (I don't think that is an option on the new event form). Can you tell me how to correct this? Is there a work around for this?
  • Hey Lisa,

Here's the answers to your questions.

I know classic event form doesn't allow this, correct?

Correct, you have to use the new form for this.

also have the attributes on the form

Both the new and classic form can take participant attributes.

    Thanks!

  • I am not seeing where the attribute option is on the new form...there is options but there is no attributes. Can you point me in the right direction?
