Links being redirected to home page.

Options
When I try to link out to other URLs besides what's in BBNC the results are intermittent. All links are sent changed from:

http://www.myaddress.com/path/goes/here

to

http://www.myaddress.com/page.redir?t...

The issue is that the recipents are receiving intermittment behavior. Sometimes they get pushed right to the destination correctly and other times they get pointed / redirected to the main BBNC domain - ex: alumni.domain.edu for example.

Thanks!

  • Not sure if this is the case but often we find the page or template of the page you are trying to link to is secured to some specific roles. Hence if the user is not logged in they get sent to the home page.
  • Thanks for your input, Warren. What about if those links are external to the NetComm site?
  • Apologies - just re-read and get your point. Was not aware of external links being mangled by the email editor. Is it something to do with the https:// or http:// leader perhaps. Anyway, sounds like one for support to work through..
  • Hello Tara,

That is correct, if you have a user who is going to a page that they shouldn't have access to (i.e. they do not have the same Role that is set up in Targeting & Security of the page) then it will redirect them (likely to the home page). If you are linking to a page that is external to NetCommunity (such as www.google.com) then it should link fine. If you are getting some kind of redirect then we would be happy to look at an example of it with you. The support team can also help you with this when you create a case on case central from blackbaud.com
