Best practice for migrating event parts to a new site

Options
We are retiring an existing BBNC site, but will have active events ongoing during the process of migrating to a new BBNC site (all using the same database instance, etc).

what is the best way to migrate the event registration parts to the new site without losing the parts when the old site they were originally created in is shut down? Do we simply "share" the parts between sites and shut down the old site, meaning that the part will still continue to work with the new site? OR, do we have to create a completely new copy of the part that won't be the same part as the one in the old site?

Basically, we are looking to launch a new BBNC site in the middle of an event and not have any problems collecting event registrations with ongoing existing events. Once launching the new site, we plan to archive the old one and set the DNS of the old side to automatically redirect to the new one.

  • Hello Erik,

You can edit a part's properties and choose which site it's assigned to (Assign to site) . This essentially migrates the part from one site to another. The part can still be shared between sites, however.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
