This newly expanded role is critical to our organization and is the entry point for all that we do to assist donors in achieving their philanthropic dreams.

 

The Foundation was incorporated in 1966 as a 501(C) 3 for the purpose of promoting the general welfare, development and growth of the University of Northern Colorado. 



Since inception, the UNC Foundation has accrued approximately 100 million dollars in endowed and current-use assets through fundraising initiatives and investment growth.  In the fiscal year ending June 2015, the Foundation helped over 5000 donors connect with the University of Northern Colorado through their philanthropic support and received and acknowledged over $8 Million in gifts. The Associate Director of Gifts Administration will serve as a member of the Foundation’s Advancement Services team and support fundraising and stewardship strategies through proper recording, acknowledgment, and stewardship of donors’ gifts in support of UNC. S/he will retain primary responsibility for administering all daily gifts received by the Foundation as well as the associated duties of gift reporting, gift receipting, payroll gift processing and event registration processing. The Associate Director will be employed by the Foundation and will collaborate extensively University’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations and Foundation peers to achieve established goals and objectives. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Associate Director of Gift Administration is responsible for research, input and maintenance of data and gift records to ensure the accuracy of cash gifts, securities and stock donations and pledges recorded in the constituent database, currently the Raiser’s Edge. S/he performs routine audits for integrity and accuracy of data and provides support to the Director of Advancement Services in this regard. S/he will maintain a solid understanding of UNC’s fundraising programs, strategies and information systems, and will be accountable for accurate results. The Associate Director will assist in the development and implementation of data management policies and practices. S/he will actively engage Advancement and Advancement Services professionals and professional groups such as CASE, AASP, APRA, and IM&T Professionals to improve and enhance gift administration processes and fundraising support as well as operate at all times in accordance with the Donor Bill of Rights.

Requirements:

The Associate Director of Gift Administration will have the ability to work efficiently and collaboratively to ensure timely and consistent gift records administration. A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience in the field of advancement services is strongly preferred; experience in a university or higher education setting would be ideal. Knowledge of a wide variety of software (preferably Raiser’s Edge and partner software systems) is also required. Aptitude, flexibility, a strong desire to learn, clear communication skills, attention to detail, and intense curiosity could be considered in lieu of experience for the right candidate.

 

Other requirements include:
  • An understanding of the scope of advancement services including gift processing and acknowledgements, reporting in support of fundraising initiatives, protecting confidential prospect and donor information, as well as other data maintenance activities and standards
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to share ideas and convey them throughout the organization in an efficient and effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team structure
  • Excellent personal and interpersonal communication skills; writing and proofreading skills
  • Understanding of office methods, procedures, practices and accounting
  • Ability to learn, interpret and apply complex policies and procedures with minimal guidance
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Must be highly motivated and able to meet deadlines and goals independently
  • Willingness to adhere to the UNC Foundation’s core values
  • Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and diversity within the campus and community
 

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  A generous benefit package includes paid time off, health, dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance and matching contributions to a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan.
