The University of Northern Colorado Foundation, Inc. was incorporated in 1966 as a 501(C) 3 for the purpose of promoting the general welfare, development and growth of the University of Northern Colorado. 



Since inception, the UNC Foundation has gown to approximately 100 million dollars in endowed and current-use assets through fundraising initiatives and investment growth.  In the fiscal year ending June 2015, the Foundation helped over 5000 donors connect with the University of Northern Colorado through their philanthropic support and received and acknowledged over $8 Million in gifts. With cornerstone values of integrity, accuracy, balance and partnership, the Foundation staff strives to achieve the following organizational objectives in support of the University of Northern Colorado.

The Director of Advancement Services is an integral member of the Foundation leadership team and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and long-range and short-range planning for all advancement services in support of University’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations initiatives including donor records administration, stewardship, gift processing and acknowledgement, database integrity, data analysis and system enhancements, direct mail and reporting.  

 

 

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Director of Advancement Services is responsible for leadership and oversight of advancement services functions, with a primary focus on data strategy and systems, information services and reporting, and gift administration.  The Director develops and executes plans for continuous quality improvement in services to and in communication with University constituencies that actively and passively utilize alumni, donor, parent, and friend data.  

 

The Director provides strategic insight, develops business policy and approves processes which anticipate the University’s needs as it relates to fundraising data processing and the dissemination of information. S/he will direct day-to-day operations of knowledge management functions and ensure that all team members have a solid understanding of the fundraising programs, strategies and information systems, and are accountable for the integrity of the database, currently Raiser’s Edge,  and compliant with sound data management policies and practices. S/he will actively engage Advancement and Advancement Services professionals and professional groups such as CASE, AASP, APRA, and IM&T Professionals to improve and enhance programs, database operations, and fundraising support as well as operate at all times in accordance with the Donor Bill of Rights.





Requirements:

The Director of Advancement Services will have the ability to work with minimal guidance and to share ideas and convey them in an efficient manner. A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in the field of advancement services is required; experience in a university or higher education setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of a wide variety of software (preferably Raiser’s Edge and partner software systems) is also required.

 

Other requirements include:
  • An understanding of the scope of advancement services including gift processing and acknowledgements, stewardship, reporting in support of fundraising initiatives, protecting confidential prospect and donor information, as well as other data maintenance activities and standards
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and train and motivate team members in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to share ideas and convey them throughout the organization in an efficient and persuasive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and collaborate effectively in a team structure
  • Excellent personal and interpersonal communication skills; writing and proofreading skills
  • Advanced understanding of office methods, procedures, practices and accounting
  • Ability to train users in the most effective use systems; ability to learn, interpret and apply complex policies and procedures with minimal guidance
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Must be highly motivated and able to meet deadlines and goals independently
  • Willingness to adhere to the UNC Foundation’s core values
  • Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and diversity within the campus and community
 

 

 

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.  A generous benefit package includes paid time off, health, dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance and matching contributions to a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan.
