The American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro, a national fundraising organization with headquarters in New York, provides support for Beit Issie Shapiro, recently awarded advisory status at the UN's Economic and Social Council as Israel's leading representative in the field of disabilities.

Beit Issie Shapiro is Israel's leading innovator of new therapies for children with disabilities, changing attitudes in society, advocating for better legislation and sharing knowledge internationally through research and training and impacting more than 30,000 people every year.

Located in Ra'anana, Beit Issie Shapiro pioneered Israel's first Early Intervention Center, the first hydrotherapy program for children with developmental and physical disabilities, and the use of unique multi-sensory environment rooms for children with autism and other sensory issues. Beit Issie Shapiro also established Israel's first rehabilitative daycare center and home treatment program in the Arab sector of Kalansua to provide support services to Arab-Israeli families.

The American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro seeks a Development Assistant for part-time work (16 - 20 hours/week). Experience working in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint is essential.

The Development Assistant will have an integral role in the work of the development department, providing support for our fundraising and marketing campaigns, including during our October annual gala, NYC Marathon, major gifts, and direct mail campaign. The Development Assistant will report to the Director of Development, Greater New York Region but provide assistance to other regions as needed.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting a system for cultivation, stewardship and regular, meaningful recognition of donors.
  • Data entry and gift acknowledgment;
  • Assisting with drafting donor correspondence, managing mailings, and administrative tasks;
  • Working with the Director of Development to provide logistical support for fundraising/cultivation events throughout the year
  • Managing Social Media (FB, Twitter) and creating e-blasts via Constant Contact
  • Researching new sources/new prospects for foundation, corporation and government grant opportunities on a regular basis.
  • Other general office duties.
Ideal candidate is a self-motivated, energetic individual with a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills who has the following qualifications:
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly in Excel and Word);
  • Raiser's Edge experience (or other experience with databases)
  • Ability to proofread closely with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Excellent written, phone, and verbal communication skills;
  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience in a fundraising department; and
  • Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, to anticipate and meet deadlines, and to respond to unanticipated problems
Experience working on special events and knowledge of Raiser's Edge & Constant Contact are a plus.
