Memorial Gift Condolences

Options
Our online giving platform allows donors who are giving in memory of an individual to leave a condolence message when they donate their gift. That condolence message is then attached to the gift record, but does not get sent directly to the tribute acknowledgee unless we send it to them. We would like to include these messages on the acknowledgee letter, but I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to do that. If the easiest way is to do it manually, that's fine. But does anyone else have this issue and figured out a different way to track those messages in Raiser's Edge and place them as a field in the tribute acknowledgee letter? Thanks.

  • You can put that in the reference line of the gift and have that be a merge field in your letter. I use that field for things like that and it's an available field in the Honor/Memorial Acknowledgee letter.
  • A second vote for adding it to the reference line! That's how we take care of the situation.

If you preferred, you could also create a gift attribute, put it in the description, and merge the description field in with your tribute letter.
  • I set up gift attributes to merge into the letters for tribute gifts.
  • You can use Commorative Gift in the Additional Addressees and Salutations and make it Editable and

put in anything messages you want in there. I like to do that, if you use the reference in the tribute you will get that on each of

your acknowledgements....try it and let me know. Hope this helped. :)

    Thanks.
