  Development Manager Under the direction of the Vice President of Community Relations, the Development Manager designs and directs MHF’s donor cultivation and stewardship efforts. More than any other staff member or Trustee; he/she possesses the deepest knowledge of the MHF donor list and is thoroughly familiar with the generous individuals who choose to support this organization. In collaboration with the Foundation Board of Trustees, the Development Manager works to develop relationships with current and prospective Memorial Hospital Foundation donors. The Development Manager connects generous people with this organization and works with them to secure the financial resources necessary for MHF to achieve its mission.   MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilizes sophisticated CRM software to manage relationships with hundreds of donors and prospects. Is responsible for a set number of donor relationships, and facilitates relationship development between donors and other members of the organization, including the CEO/President. Responsible for identifying donor-related tasks and actions, and ensures that they are completed, either personally or by colleagues. Tasks may include phone calls, written correspondence, personal visits and direct solicitations. As a key member of the PR & Development Team, the Development Manager ensures a constant flow of major gifts to MHF. Assists and works closely with the PR & Development Administrative Coordinator, and is cross-trained in MHF’s membership and data processing procedures. Manages MHF’s planned giving program and Mt. Washington Legacy Society. Maintains oversight of the various methods and instruments of planned giving, and coordinate the promotion of the planned giving program to MHF members and donors.   Works with consultants to ensure that planned gifts are executed properly and stays informed of policies and regulations governing planned giving. Plays a key role in the planning, execution and fundraising associated with MHF, which includes our long running Memorial Hospital Open Golf Tournament. This includes sponsorship sales and meeting overall revenue targets. Identifying, cultivating, and soliciting philanthropic support by developing and maintaining relationships with MHF donors. Converting prospective donors into active donors by efficiently soliciting gifts and facilitating transactions. Fostering positive and enduring relationships that produce reciprocal benefits. Spearheading MHF’s planned giving efforts. Coordinating donor cultivation events. Becoming an expert user of MHF’s CRM database (currently Blackbaud), maintaining accurate, detailed records of all donor interactions; running reports; creating, importing and exporting mailing lists; performing mail merges; and performing other tasks related to the maintenance and use of this sophisticated software. Participating in the development of fundraising materials, case statements, and brochures Oversight of the annual appeal mailings. Nurturing a culture of philanthropy among staff and Trustees and ensuring that building donor relationships enters into all Development decisions. Demonstrating empathetic disposition and conveying sensitivity to needs of the donors Maintaining an optimistic and positive attitude. Developing and maintaining reliable, error-proof systems that ensure proper cultivation of major donors. Processing of gift transactions. Cross-training on membership, list management, mailing processes. Responsibility for the financial performance of fundraising events including sponsorship sales.  Other duties and special projects as assigned.
 
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:    Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills Proficiency in or ability to master use of CRM database software (Blackbaud), Total proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques Keen attention to detail Well-honed organizational skills, willingness and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision and work collaboratively Ability to have a personal stake in the financial success of the MHF by meeting deadlines and achieving goals Ability to maintain relationships with significant and influential individuals Experience and comfort with soliciting large gifts from affluent individuals Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and adhere to the highest ethical standards    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree and minimum five years of related experience
