Initial set up for Actions and Action Tracks

We just switched our CRM to Raisers Edge (3 weeks ago) and I'm trying to see how to lead my Development team (for a university) with actions and action tracks.  I'll be the one to come up with our Moves Management, so, what Actions and Action tracks did others start off with when they started with RE?  I know this is different for each organization, but any help to see how others started out would be nice.

  • Our first action track was for first time $500+ donors. The actions added were a thank you call and research. After research, the action gets an attribute adding the person to our annual giving or major gift pipeline, when they'll be reviewed as prospects.

    Can you point me to a resource that outlines how to set up an action track for a criteria like this (first time gift of X amount or even just gift of X amount, etc)? I'd like for people who make a gift for the first time or who make a gift and don't currently ahve a solicitor to be assigned to a development officer to receive an action alert to follow up with them. Is something like that possible? If so, can ayone help? Thanks! (I'm a newbie to RE ... much more comfortable in the Luminate system!!)

    You need to write a Query that looks for the criteria of who you want to group together.  Example:  Donors who have Given a gift of $500 or more in the last 3 years and Assigned Solicitor is Blank.
