URLs for Social Share Links only open web view of email newsletters

Hello - I am new on this forum and I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out this problem. I just started working with this organization and I'm trying - as my first real task - to figure out why, some months ago - the URLs they had been using to let people share their newsletters on Facebook and Twitter stopped working.

 

Here are the links they were using (the stuff in red being the org URL and the unique ID number of each email)

 

FOR FACEBOOK SHARING -

 

http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=http://ORG.convio.net/site/MessageViewer?em_id=EMAILIDNUMBER

 

FOR TWITTER SHARING -

 

http://twitter.com/home?status=http://ORG.convio.net/site/MessageViewer?em_id=EMAILIDNUMBER

 

I've been told that months ago, these links would open Facebook and Twitter and prompt the user to share the newsletters. Now, it seems that these links will only open the web version of the newsletters, without any connection to Facebook or Twitter.  They have found a workaround for this issue, but they would like to fix it, as it creates another step and more work to the newsletter creation process.

 

My question is - does anyone know what link format would work to open Facebook and Twitter and prompt sharing?

Those links should be working. I can click the FB share one right now and it launches Facebook share. I'm wondering if your code in your email is broken. If you have copied the code a lot or anything you could be breaking it slightly. It will share the web version of your email.
