Summary:

Provides functional management support for the Foundation’s fundraising activities by monitoring fundraiser portfolios, systematically tracking prospect activity throughout the moves management process, providing training on the prospect tracking system in Raiser’s Edge, and providing strategic analysis and information/reports to support fundraising efforts.



Formal Education Required:  Bachelors degree in non-profit management, marketing, communications, or closely related field.



Experience and Training Required:

-Two (2) to four (4) years in non-profit prospect management with thorough working knowledge of best practices related to prospect moves management and the fundraising cycle for major gift, annual fund, and planned giving programs.

-Raiser’s Edge or similar database system experience with a strong knowledge of Raiser’s Edge 7 architecture and capabilities preferred.

-Ability to organize and manage diverse range of assignments and projects with high degree of efficiency and thorough attention to detail and accuracy.

-Experience and skill in providing capacity estimates and conceptualizing, developing, and implementing proactive prospecting methodologies to identify potential major gift donors.

-Advanced analytical skills including ability to analyze and interpret business and financial data and information.

-Demonstrated strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, particularly written and verbal, with ability to present often complicated information in a compelling and understandable way.

-Proficient computer skills, including MS Office products such as Word, Excel, and/or Access

-Ability to interact face-to-face and via telephone conversation with a diverse demographic population.

-Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

-Ability to deal with and maintain confidential information, including patient information, donor records and other sensitive materials.

-Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the prospect management system within Summa Foundation’s fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge), which is used to classify and track movement of donors and prospects through the moves management cycle.   Audits and further develops functionality of the prospect management system to support Summa Foundation’s fundraising mission and goals

 

Train fundraising staff on their roles and responsibilities in the prospect management system and on the use of portfolio management reports that track major gift fundraising and prospect activity. Also helps ensure the identification, qualification and assignment of prospect portfolios to fundraisers are balanced by solicitation stage, philanthropic capacity, propensity, and interest areas

 

Conduct prospect tracking meetings with VP of Development and frontline fundraisers to determine assignment status of prospects and discuss potential strategies with active prospects.  Also updates the fundraising database according to the outcome of these meetings and discussions

 

Create and deliver reports on achievement of performance metrics for fundraising staff to Foundation President, Vice President and frontline Directors on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, and as requested

 

Conduct or outsource online and print research to identify and qualify individual, corporate and foundation prospects with capacity to make major gifts to Summa Health System, and prepare biographical profiles and research reports as needed.  Records relevant information in the database from research findings, action reports and other informational sources

 

Remain current and fully informed on prospect management trends and available resources in the field

 

Schedule and conduct exit reviews with Foundation leadership and appropriate frontline fundraisers to realign the prospect pool, evaluate prospect activity, develop next steps for successor and review the status of outstanding solicitations

 

Participate as an active member of the Development Operations Team and the team

                 

Perform related duties as assigned

 

REPORTS TO: Director or designated administrator

 

LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION: May supervise interns and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.
