Gift Query with Organization Contact info

I am trying to run a gift query (36 month gift history) to include: gift amount, date, appeal, package, address info and CONTACT NAME. I was told by Blackbaud support that the contact name cannot populate a gift query only a constituent query, but hten i cannot get the gift info. What do you do to get complete information?

If I'm reading your message correctly, looks like you're trying to export gift information out using Query.  It's far better and safer to use Export to do this.



In a gift export you can export out the relationship information on the constituent that the gift is under, and then you can select contacts (in the filter window that comes up) and choose the contact type(s) - and then export all sorts of information about that contact.  



So this would give you the gift data you need as well as the constituent/contact data.

I'm more than a little surprised that you contacted support and they didn't give you the mantra "Query is a grouping tool, not a reporting tool."  We all hear that over and over again.  Even some old-timers like me need to be reminded once in awhile. 



Use a Gift Query to decide which gift records you want to look at (Gift Date Between MM/DD/YYYY and MM/DD/YYYY, plus any other filtering needed), then use that Query as a source for a Gift Export that includes the fields you need.
