Summary of Responsibilities

 

The Raiser’s Edge Database Administrator is responsible for daily gift processing and timely donor gift acknowledgement in addition to the full oversight vision, strategy and integrity of the Raiser’s Edge donor database, ensuring that the organization is effectively soliciting its entire prospect and donor populations in ways that maximize revenue and participation.  S/he ensures that all gift and constituent data is collected, stored and properly used by members of the organization and determines how to best translate stored data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and metrics.  Serves as the primary liaison for the reconciliation process between The Raiser’s Edge and the finance system.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

1. Bachelors Degree and five years related experience in a fundraising environment required.
2. Minimum two years experience as a high-level user or database manager of the Raiser’s Edge with Crystal Reports experience.
3. Genuine commitment to delivery of services within the context of the agency's mission and culture.
4. Strong knowledge of the overall fundraising process, capital and annual campaign management and report generation, major gifts, direct mail list generation, research function, as well as gift processing and accounting. 
5. Ability to work in an environment characterized by change and a need to be responsive.
6. High level of flexibility and initiative.  Candidate must be comfortable being self-directed and driving the growth and impact of The Raiser’s Edge within our organization. 
7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
8. Great attention to detail. 
9. Strong analytical skills- this position will be one of the key persons relied upon for thoughtful and accurate data analysis and reporting. 
10. Ability to effectively communicate with staff in all departments on the importance and value of quality data within The Raiser’s Edge
11. Strong written communication skills. 

Thinks in terms of the big picture with respect to the team and with respect to effective database management.

 

Job Responsibilities

1. Record and acknowledge gifts in an accurate and timely manner; within 48 hours of arrival in the Development Department
2. Process all donations and monthly recurring gift batches, and oversee the structure of gift processing in the areas of funds, appeals, and campaigns
3. Oversee all constituent data entry, maintenance and creation of new fields
4. Run basic and advanced queries to support fundraising efforts and analyze the effectiveness of appeals and events (Crystal Reports)
5. Perform donor analysis reporting to help identify donor and organizational trends
6. Support program management decision-making by producing new and ongoing analysis reports incorporating relevant data points
7. Initiate and manage projects to improve utilization of the database
8. Provide training and mentorship to new users on Raiser’s Edge
9. Support outreach efforts in the collection of data at special events
10. General application administrator – manage users, monitor security, run regular data integrity checks, work with IT manager to apply system wide updates and patches as needed
11. Manage Blackbaud vendor relations
12. Document and update database policies and procedures on an ongoing work basis
13. Serve as primary liaison for the reconciliation process between the Development Department and Finance Department and supports accounting manager in preparation for the annual financial audit
14. Completes NCOA updates and other purchased data updates as needed
15. Other duties as assigned
