Network Engineer

Northwood University seeks a Network Engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of network communications in the enterprise. The Network Engineer designs & manages wide area, local area, and wireless network equipment, routing, cabling, redundancy, quality of service, and bandwidth management; provides technical recommendations to management regarding systems maintenance, upgrades & enhancements; provides input to management for the procurement of network equipment and supplies; monitors & tunes the enterprise network infrastructure for optimal performance; develops a strategy for scheduled code audits & relevant updates; facilitates the scheduling of network outages with respect to the needs of all affected end-users; acts as primary interface with equipment vendors; possesses strong analytical skills, diverse technical knowledge, and strives for continuous improvement; excels under pressure; is organized and can multi-task. BS or BA degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or related area required, as well as: 2+ years’ experience with wide & local area networks; ability to communicate effectively; ability to efficiently manage time and multi-task in a rapidly-changing network infrastructure environment; strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, Ethernet networks, Internet connectivity, cabling, and network management.
