Open Position - Director of Development Operations

Project HOME recently created the position of Director of Development Operations, intended to manage the growing gift stewardship needs. The position will also oversee all gift and in-kind gift stewardship, volunteer coordination, and back office operations of the department.
This director will work with the Vice President and two other directors to ensure that Project HOME meets all of its private revenue goals annually, which in FY15 amount to $6.3 million in operating funds and $3.5 million in capital funds.
The primary responsibility of the position is to develop and oversee standards, procedures, and tools that will grow capacity for prospects and encourage best practices and consistency in gift stewardship and volunteer coordination. This position assures accuracy of all data and records in accordance with audited standards and produces useful, timely reports, budgets and lists in order to achieve fundraising goals. The position manages Development Associate of Gift Processing, Data, and Office Management as well as the Volunteer and In-Kind Gifts Coordinator.

Monday – Friday 9:00 - 5:00pm – Flexibility and occasional evenings may be required

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in Project HOME’s Senior Management Team meetings; provide leadership and innovation in support of the organization’s operations, mission, goals, and future growth.
- Mange revenue and expense budgeting for the Department, including analysis of trends and presentation.
- Participate in goal setting for the development department, and consistently monitor and report on staff performance.
- Responsible for growing the development department’s capacity for prospect research, identification and moves management, including implementing a wide range of advancement policies and procedures.
- Oversee the development department’s data systems, gift processing, acknowledgements, filing and budgeting systems.
- Implement, manage and evaluate operation processes and procedures, following auditing standards.
- Ensure the integrity of gift stewardship, including prospect data management, gift processing, pledge processing and tracking, personalization of acknowledgements, reconciliation and reporting (including upgrading current reporting and developing needed reporting.)
- Ensure the continual maintenance of constituent data, the integrity of queries and downloaded information, and the regular reporting on appeals and overall fundraising.
- Enforce database standards, including database access, security and privacy, data entry, coding and data maintenance throughout the department.
- Manage all list maintenance and development, including but not limited to, mailing lists, prospect lists, and email lists.
- Coordinate the technical and procedural interfaces between development database and other data streams (other internal database sources, data from vendors)
- Fulfill other responsibilities as necessary

REPORTS TO:
Vice President of Development & Public Relations
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree preferred (MA, MSW or other relevant degree)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6+ years of Development experience in a non-profit environment, including direct management of staff, as well as project management and database management.
- Computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and The Raisers Edge.
- Strong leadership skills; capable of co-managing and mentoring a staff with a broad range of responsibilities.
- Excellent analytical skills, and experience working with project budgets and financial reports.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Good writing and editing skills.
- Ability to handle private information confidentially.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; collegial team player able to work well with diverse internal and external constituencies.
