Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive preK-12 independent school, serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs. Committed to academic excellence, ethical learning, and progressive education, ECF offers a rich and challenging curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A coed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students from PreK to 12 on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan. 

The Development Associate will assist the Manager of Database Services and support the Office of Institutional Advancement and Alumni through the following key responsibilities:

Development Research
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and timely systems for development research and reporting to support fundraising objectives, including data mining for prospect identification.
  • Manage Prospect Information System in conjunction with using other methods of research sources in preparation for the public phase of the capital campaign.
  • Identify research and profile individual major donors, Foundations, Corporations and prospects.
  • Stay informed on trends in prospect research and online search.
Record Management and Reporting
  • Collaborate with Manager of Database Services on a strategy for recording information consistently and reporting on: prospects, donors, alumni, gifts, events.
  • Process and enter gifts via NetCommunity, Lockbox, Authorize.net, and Blackbaud applications.
  • Enter constituent data for all individuals and organizations, including address updates, constituent demographics, and relationship links.
  • Process regular updates from Lexis Nexis and Senior Systems.
  • Maintain database constituent codes.
  • Enter returned mail address corrections or other such change of address notification.
  • Extract information and export data to other software applications.
  • Maintain donor records and new gift entry.
  • Produce reports and assist with general analysis of data as it relates to fundraising and donor recognition.
  • Manage the filing systems for alumni, parents and friends of OIAA.
  • Assist with confidential research for update of businesses information, including contact persons for "Primary Contact" for businesses.
  • Create and provide queries, reports, correspondence and mailing lists from donor and prospect database, send invitations, track RSVP's, coordinate research of guests and help prepare presentations.
 

 

General Office Support

 
  • Help staff special events as needed
  • Support special projects as requested
 

Required Qualifications

 

• At least 2-3 years Raiser’s Edge experience

• Responsible and dependable character who takes pride in managing database

• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a wide variety of constituencies

• Ability to handle multiple projects and work independently

• Cooperative attitude, willingness to learn, team approach

• Experience in database management and Microsoft Office software

• Experience with Senior Systems a plus.

• Skilled in proofreading and delivering presentations

• Excellent organizational and communication skills
