At IJM, we believe that we can help end slavery and violence against the poor in our lifetime, but we can’t do it alone. Ending slavery takes more than an organization, it takes a movement. To that end, we’re seeking a Database Manager to help grow the justice movement by managing our constituent database – fueling IJM’s marketing, fundraising and mobilization efforts.

 

This position is based at IJM Headquarters in the Washington, DC area and reports to the Constituent Data Integration & Operations Manager.

 


Responsibilities:




Data Management & Integration

  • Manage the implementation of database policies and procedures for IJM’s constituent database (currently the Raiser’s Edge);
  • Maintain a policy manual and documentation on procedures for Raiser’s Edge usage;
  • Work with Director of Digital Marketing on integration of new technologies including point-of-sale system, online merchandise vendors, and more; assess impact on data integrity;
  • Perform global changes and imports; and
  • Identify and implement solutions for automating data management practices including data clean up rhythms, duplicate maintenance, imports and reporting.

Marketing & Fundraising Support 

  • Determine best data management structures, processes and protocols needed to support the strategies of IJM’s fundraising and marketing teams; work with program team leads, subject matter experts and others to implement and refine, as needed;
  • Liaise with the fundraising team to understand desired strategy for segmenting potential and current donors; implement systems to enable execution of strategies across various channels (direct mail, email, telemarketing, etc.);
  • Work with Database Coordinator to segment, prepare and deliver mailing lists for use in all direct mail pieces; utilize past giving history to produce data needed for dynamic ask strings and other constituent-centric fundraising approaches; and
  • Build queries and workflows to produce customized email welcome series’ for multiple audience segments; revise and refine, as needed, to reflect refined strategies based on data insights.

Training & Consultation 

  • Assess and identify training needs for staff related to how to manage and extract data from IJM’s constituent database; creatively develop and deploy training opportunities to staff with minimal budget;
  • Consult with fundraising, marketing and program teams to develop new processes, systems and structures for new programs and campaigns;
  • Advise marketing, fundraising and program teams in best practices for data management; and
  • Co-lead Raiser’s Edge User Group meetings.
