Fund Query - Last Gift Date

Options
Looking for a little bit of help with a query. I'm a little bit flabbergasted that the Gift and Fund query types don't have "First Gift Date" or "Last Gift Date" as criteria/output options. I tried the Knowledgebase and did give a way to find the results I'm looking for, but with over 150 active funds and nearly 7,000 records on the output it's not exactly an ideal circumstance.

What I'm looking to create is a Query, or an Export, for all of our endowment funds and the latest date we received a donation to them (either Capital or Top-up).

The Knowledgebase query here: https://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?page=content&id=BB588248  gives a list, which is nice for sure, but it includes all gifts to the fund and are just sorted by Latest Gift.

Is there any way that we can get the First/Last Gift Date features added to Query and Export for Fund-based searches? It's helpful of course to have that available for Constituents to search for LYBUNT/SYBUNT, but it would be equally valuable to be able to have a quick and simple search for Funds as well.

Richard, be sure to post your suggestion on the Discovery pages.  I'd vote for it.

They should be able to do it - it is an list I've seen but not very user friendly when you're looking at 150 funds.  Where I've seen it is to go to Records > Funds > choose your fund name > View > Summaries > Fund Summary.  Set any filters.  For View top right select 'First/Last/Greatest'.  It will show you the gifts.

I tried doing by campaign to see if it would show all associated funds but couldn't pull first/last.  I'd sure ask support.  Sometimes knowledgebase doesn't pull what we think it should or there may not be a KB for the issue.

  • Done! Look for this suggestion: Add "Last Gift Date" to Fund/Gift Query

I was able to pore over my list created from the Knowledgebase suggestion, but that was the better part of 30 minutes of sifting information.

I'm now searching for the same info - have you found any better ways to get last gift?

Added my vote...and here's a link directly to the Idea.

  • For anyone still looking - I had a total "aha!" moment with a coworker and decided to run this through a pivot table.

I exported all gifts (335k on active funds, for reference) to Excel and did a quick pivot table on fund ID, and then did a 'max' and 'min' on gift date.

The whole thing took maybe 5 minutes at most.
