The Technical Manager for Advancement Systems is responsible for all aspects of advancement technology systems and for enabling the fund raising and engagement efforts of the Advancement staff through the use of technology. The Technical Manager will provide technical leadership for the Blackbaud CRM implementation project, will serve as the primary technical resource for Virginia Tech for the implementation, and will continue to provide technical leadership for the system after implementation. The Technical Manager must become and remain proficient in the products being implemented and supported to facilitate the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of required functionality.

 

This position will manage the technical staff that support advancement software solutions and provide direction to the staff for compliance with industry and university best practices and standards for enterprise-level systems. The incumbent will work with Functional Team Managers to design and implement solutions that meet their needs, ensuring that technical solutions meet the business needs and strategic priorities identified by University Development and Alumni Association leadership. This position will plan for and manage all internal, vendor, and 3rd party technical staff resources to realize deliverables within agreed upon timelines and budgets.

 

The Technical Manager for Advancement Systems reports to the Project Director within University Development and has responsibility to the Associate Vice President for Enterprise Systems for overall coordination with university enterprise architecture and standards.
