Cure SMA is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to the treatment and cure of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a disease that takes away a person's ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.

The web specialist will help create, maintain, and improve content on the organization's website, event-specific microsites, and other communications, including email marketing and social media. The web specialist will assist in creating tools to ensure the highest quality of content, will help track and analyze the effectiveness of these efforts, and will help generate ideas to increase effectiveness.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Edit, format, and upload new website content or updates to existing website content. Gather content from internal and external sources, and when appropriate write new content.
  • Create event microsites and make ongoing updates to these microsites. Build and manage email templates and specific email campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain a system to schedule and track necessary updates. Audit existing website content and identify areas to target for updates or improvement.
  • Assist communications manager in working with partner organizations and PR outlets to ensure proper distribution of content.
  • Ensure that images and graphics are appropriate and meet standards for quality and branding. Edit images as necessary. Develop an image library for internal use.
  • Prepare dashboards for data analysis and metrics surrounding website and social media outlet utilization.
  • Assist communications manager in development and implementation of Cure SMA's strategic communications plan.

General Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective use of Cure SMA resources
  • Participate in required education programs and meetings
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university

Job Experience: At least 2-3 years of communications and marketing experience, with significant technical background; non-profit experience strongly preferred but not required

Demonstrated Competencies:

  • Salesforce, Convio/Luminate and/or similar database, marketing, and content management systems.
  • HTML and CSS coding. Java coding skills a plus.
  • Google analytics.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Adobe CS, particularly Photoshop).
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow branding guidelines.
  • Ability to proofread content and follow style guidelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
