Pivot Report - Error Message in Excel

Options

I am desperate for HELP!  When I export my pivot report to Excel it is giving me an error message within Excel...."Initialization of the data source failed.  Check the database server or contact your database administrator.  Make sure the external database is available, and then try the operation again, create a new data source to connect to the database."  So I am basically stuck with a blank spreadsheet.

Raiser's Edge is telling me it an Excel issue and to contact my IT department and the IT Department who have no experience with Raiser's Edge cannot figure out what the problem is.  I never had this problem before, but we recently switched to the latest version of Raiser's Edge and I also got a new computer.  Has anybody else had this problem, I hope somebody can help.  Thank you!

     Yolanda,

This happens every time I export a Pivot report to Excel, but there's an easy fix.  In the little empty pivot table created in Excel, click on the dropdown, make any selection (for example, uncheck "Select All"), undo the selection (recheck "Select All") and hit OK.  That should do it.  It works for me every time.

We have upgraded to Windows 7, Office 2010 and I am having the same issue. I have not been able to resolve it by selecting and unselecting select all. I may be missing it but I do not see a pull down. Each time I select any field from the field list the message is generated.
