Is it possible to rename export field names?

Hi there,

I was wondering whether there is a way to rename the export field names (e.g. CnAttrCat_3_Description) to something more meaningful within the RE export rather than after exporting?  I would have thought this would be relatively straightforward but I can't see an option to do this when selecting the fields to export. 

We're using version 7.92 in case this is relevant.

Hi Pete,

I don't remember this being an option in 7.92. It is available in 7.93.5. The option does save time and reduces the likelihood that a different user would forget to change the column headers in excel.

For versions of The Raiser's Edge 7.92 and lower:Open the file in Excel and rename the headers from Excel.ORCreate an import file and select the fields to export.  The import file fields are closer to the original field names than the export headers.   Rename the .imp file to a .csv file and open within ExcelFor versions of The Raiser's Edge 7.93 and higher:This functionality is available for file formats exported in columns such as Excel and Comma Separated Values. Highlight the field in the output list.Right-click on the field and choose Column Heading.Enter the new Column HeadingClick OK.

Thank you both for your speedy responses.  I was sure I remembered renaming the export fields during my RE training - that'll explain it!
