Responsibilities include leading and managing all aspects of the Research office.Essential Functions1. Review and screen segments of the database to identify Major Gift prospects/suspects. Work closely with the Associate VP and VP for Development in developing a streamlined approach to and the execution of prospect/suspect identification functions. 2. Prioritize most promising Major Gift prospects/suspects. Communicate information about prospects/suspects to the Associate VP along with any recommendations for assignment based on completed research. 3. Work closely with the Associate VP of Development to determine the role of Prospect Research and Management in the Capital Campaign. Develop standards and methods as needed to structure the campaign. Proactively seek and implement educational opportunities to learn best practices for Prospect Research and Management in Capital Campaigns. 4. Maintain ResearchPoint database. Keep Raiser's Edge up-to-date with wealth information. Update Raiser's Edge with new biographical data found by WealthPoint. Maintain log-ins, passwords, and levels of access for all Development staff. Provide training as needed on the usage of ResearchPoint. Maintain the Policies and Procedures manuals on Research Point for the Development Office. Supervise a staff of two Senior Researcher positions and a Prospect Management Coordinator position. 5. Perform other duties as assigned.Marginal/Incidental FunctionsOther functions as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree. Minimum of five years of experience in development or development research, preferably in higher education; experience in prospect management coordination; strong computing skills and knowledge of database maintenance and retrieval; familiarity with on-line search engines sources; excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills; knowledge of advanced prospect research techniques and reference materials; skill in analyzing financial and statistical information; ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information; ability to work creatively; a commitment to fostering a collegial and team environment; and demonstrated supervisory and managerial experience. Applicants must include in their online resume the following information: 1)Employment history: name of company, period employed (from month/year to month/year), job title, summary of job duties and 2) Education: school name, degree type and major.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree preferred. Over 7 years' experience in prospect research and management fundraising with a proven track record of success securing gifts at the six-figure level and higher; experience managing a fundraising staff; prior work history at a higher education institution; experience with capital campaigns; the ability to work with a diverse student body, staff, and constituents is preferred.Working ConditionsMay work around standard office conditions.
