Database Administrator Job Description:

The ideal candidate is a highly-qualified and analytical administrative professional capable of working in a fast-paced environment. This associate will support the overall fundraising strategies by managing the Raiser's Edge database, while also assisting with development-related tasks. This position is responsible for the administration and management of (The Raiser's Edge), management of database integration with Blackbaud NetCommunity and providing other general support to the development department. Additionally, this role provides the necessary support for Whipple Hill database integration and related student data management. This is a part-time position up to 20 hours per week.  Hourly salary to be negotiated.

Duties:

Database Operation Support:

  • Manage the Raiser's Edge database to ensure high quality data that enables effective donor communications;
  • Determine security permissions for all Raiser's Edge and Whipple Hill users and conduct all in-house staff training for those using the databases; ensure that data standards are set and adhered to throughout the entire organization;
  • Recommend, undertake and document major data improvement projects to enforce consistency, streamline operations, improve data reporting, and otherwise support the effectiveness of the organization's fundraising strategies;
  • Establish regular, ongoing system reviews to maintain data integrity;
  • Provide ongoing assistance to database users; fulfill users' query and export requests; create customized queries, reports and dashboards for users; troubleshoot issues that arise, keep track of solutions and share with appropriate staff as necessary;
  • Maintain an active relationship with the software system vendors. Keep informed about product issues and developments, and recommend changes and enhancements to the advancement systems and capabilities; to troubleshoot any technical issues;
  • Obtain Raiser's Edge updates and upgrades from Blackbaud, read all accompanying documentations, collaborate with IT support to prepare for upgrades and train staff to use new features properly;
  • Work with the school's different departments to ensure that appropriate information is shared among administrative systems,     including the creation of new constituent records as new students register;
  • Perform all donor database administration and supervisory functions, including account and security set-up, duplicate record merging, global changes, NCOA updates and data cleanup tasks;
  •  Provide training and technical support to all Raiser's Edge users;
  • Assist in the development of email blasts by producing and managing email contact lists, list segmentation and producing email analytic reports;
  • Manage the integration between the Foundation's website (NetCommunity) and the Raiser's Edge;
  • Complete all annual Whipple Hill procedures, including but not limited to: new school year information, updated employee records, promotion of students, calendar and other necessary imports, student records management, etc.;

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain and regularly update a manual of policies and procedures for gift and acknowledgement processing, donor information tracking, list management, reporting and queries, record retention, etc.

Qualifications:

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Required knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • Three years of experience in Raiser's Edge and database administration is desired;
  • Strong experience with data clean-up and creating customized reports;
  • Self-starter who can work independently and efficiently while also supporting a team;
  • Ability to think strategically and to resolve problems;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication and organizational and analytical skills;
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Fastidious attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously;
  • Able to accept supervision and direction as required;
  • Works effectively with all levels of staff; team player.
