Reporting to the Director of Advancement Operations, the Assistant Director of Gift Management will serve as an expert for all aspects of gift processing and gift reporting. Key responsibilities will include developing a deep understanding of advancement programs and business processes; ensuring that all charitable contributions follow IRS and CASE guidelines; and communicating with the School's business office regularly to confirm donor intent is followed.  As a member of the Advancement Operations team, the Assistant Director will follow, review, and recommend policies and procedures for successful gift recording, receipting, and documenting of all gifts to The Hill School.

Position Overview

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the application of gift policies, research and implement gift recording best practices
  • Ensure the efficient and accurate receipt, recording, and acknowledgement of gifts
  • Prepare acknowledgement data and tax receipt letters
  • Track outstanding pledges and produce pledge reminders
  • Enter and retrieve data from The Raiser's Edge
  • Generate reports utilizing Crystal Reports
  • Reconcile gift income with Business Office
  • Retrieve and manage data collected through online systems
  • Produce constituent, campaign, appeal, and event reports to support and promote fundraising activity

Successful Candidate

The candidate must have strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities; be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet myriad deadlines; and have a strong sense of personal and professional integrity with the ability to exercise authority and accept responsibility.  The successful candidate must be flexible and possess a high tolerance for change.



In addition, the Assistant Director must be able to work independently, while consulting with his or her supervisor on a consistent basis; must demonstrate capacity to make sound recommendations in a fluid environment; be willing and able to work with, and cooperate with, staff at all levels and as an integral part of the entire Hill School team. The candidate must be able to exercise tact and diplomacy; work with tight deadlines; and produce first-rate, highly-accurate work, with meticulous attention to detail.  The successful candidate is able to use sophisticated development database and report writing software to retrieve data and perform comprehensive analysis and data manipulation related to all aspects of The Hill School's fundraising program.

Preference will be given to those who have been fundraising professionals in college, university, or secondary school settings; experience with Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud's Net Community, and Crystal Reports;  Salary will be commensurate with experience.
