How to pull donors who were previously lapsed

I've been requested to pull donors who gave this fiscal year after a 2-3 year period of lapsing. How on earth do I pull that!? I know how to pull lapsed donors who haven't given this year, but not if they've given this year also. Any help very much appreciated! (Unfortunately, as is often the case, this report was requested and on a very short timeline.) I'm stumped

Have you tried a query using summary info of donors who gave gift this year (# of gifts greater than 0 with date of gift set for year), another summary criteria (# of gifts from 1/1/2010-12/31/13 equals 0)? If you need ones who've given prior to say 2010 then another criteria (# of gifts greater than 1 with date less than criteria.)

Thank you, JoAnn, this worked PERFECTLY! I did exactly what you suggested and was able to use three summary fields in the query criteria: # gifts > 0 FY2015 # gifts = 0 FY2014 # gifts > 0 FY2013 and previous
