Analytical Report or Query

Options

Hi all,

I need some help.  A new staff member wants to see of those people who gave a memorial gift, how many of them gave again after we sent them a renewal letter.

Example:

On June 1 2013, Joan Doe gave a gift in memory of Aunt Bessie (which would have an appeal code of Memorial).  On May 30, 2014 we sent her a letter asking her to renew that gift.

I need to see of the memorial gifts that were sent a renewal letter....how many gave.

I am having problems getting the right results.  It should be easy, but I can't figure out where I'm going wrong (I have an upcoming audit, so my brain is a little full).

Thank you!

So, all the 2013 memorial gifts have that appeal on the gift record?  Was the 2014 letter recorded on the records as a memorial renewal appeal?  By recorded I mean shows on appeal tab and on gift record.  Do you know the # sent the letter?  You just need to know the # of gifts received?

If so, try Reports>Analytical Reports > Appeal Analysis

Two knowledgebase solutions that describe the report are:

BB80876 What is the Appeals Analysis Report and how to run it?

BB8259 How to determine the success of an appeal

Query could work too.  Query on gifts to Memorlal appeal.  Next criteria depends on if you have renewals entered as appeal, then AND gift to renewal appeal.  If not, I'd take query of gifts to memorial appeal and add criteria that would help to find those who renewed like last gift greater than May 30, 2014 to that fund.

Having trouble suggesting as not sure how you've recorded the gifts in RE.

Another way of doing this is by Constituent Query. Criteria>Gifts>Appeal>Description>One of. Then select both appeals, Memorial and Renewal. Be sure to check the box "Each record must meet all specified criteria". You will only get records that gave to both appeals.
