Chief Development Officer

Boston, MA

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) seeks a talented fundraising professional for a new position, Chief Development Officer. Reporting directly to PPLM's Chief Executive Officer, the CDO will plan for the expansion of PPLM's development program and work closely with staff and volunteer leadership to achieve the goals of PPLM's Strategic Plan.

The Chief Development Officer joins PPLM at a pivotal point. With recent Board approval of its 2014-2017 Strategic Plan, PPLM is poised for growth in its education and advocacy work. PPLM also plans to pursue the opportunities and address the challenges to continued success as a health care provider in the evolving healthcare market, in flux due to the Affordable Care Act and the state's 2012 payment reform law, among other factors. Philanthropy is viewed strategically as core to achieving mission.

Recognized as one of the leading Planned Parenthood affiliates, PPLM is known nationally for its proven middle school sexuality education curriculum, its committed leadership, and successful fundraising programs. PPLM's CEO, Martha Walz, also enjoys a unique national role. Author of Massachusetts' buffer zone legislation, now under review by the U.S. Supreme Court, Marty is a recognized motivational spokesperson for PPLM's mission to protect and promote sexual and reproductive health and freedom of choice by providing clinical services, education and advocacy.

PPLM's board benefits from dedicated, experienced, philanthropic core leadership that is aligned with the CEO on the importance of philanthropy to achieving excellence in PPLM's healthcare services. The CEO and board leadership are seeking a fundraiser who can deepen relationships with donors, develop the major gifts pipeline, and expand the donor base throughout the state. The CDO will provide leadership and strategy for a comprehensive resource development program that includes annual fund, major gifts, and planned giving.
